Twilight: Eclipse (yes I saw the damn thing)

Originally I wasn’t planning on ever admitting I went to see this movie. I changed my mind once I saw the Big Red Bus (above) parked outside the Oviedo Marketplace just before the premiere of Twilight: Eclipse. These guys have a pretty good sense of humor.

I guess I’ll give a quick review of the movie while I’m at it. The movie was bearable. On the plus side there were a few good action scenes, it was shot pretty well, music soundtrack was enjoyable, and I certainly didn’t mind the girl to guy ratio in the theater being 15 to 1 (girl to straight guy ratio was more like 20 to 1). There were a few moments however where slitting my wrists seemed like a more entertaining way to spend my time, but there weren’t many and they only lasted for five minutes at the most.

Twilight: Eclipse gave some valuable life lessons. Girls tend to string multiple guys along for their own pleasure/needs, marriage right after high school is socially acceptable, sex with vampires may result in serious injury and/or death, and girls prefer more complicated guys.

Soundtrack:
1. Metric – “Eclipse (All Yours)”
2. Muse – “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)”
3. The Bravery – “Ours”
4. Florence + The Machine – “Heavy In Your Arms”
5. Sia — “My Love”
6. Fanfarlo — “Atlas”
7. The Black Keys — “Chop And Change”
8. The Dead Weather — “Rolling In On A Burning Tire”
9. Beck and Bat For Lashes — “Let’s Get Lost”
10. Vampire Weekend — “Jonathan Low”
11. UNKLE — “With You In My Head (featuring The Black Angels)”
12. Eastern Conference Champions — “A Million Miles An Hour”
13. Band Of Horses — “Life On Earth”
14. Cee-Lo Green — “What Part Of Forever”
15. Howard Shore — “Jacob’s Theme”

(Two thumbs up for Fanfarlo, The Bravery, and Band of Horses)

Overall I give Twilight: Eclipse a 7/10.

Facebook Privacy

I’m going to the University of Florida next year and like all other high school seniors, I wanted to tell everyone about it. One of the ways I could do this and meet new people at UF was by joining my college’s Facebook network. The process of joining a new network (I hadn’t done this since freshman year of high school) was all pretty straightforward. Within a few minutes I received a verification link in an email and was part of the network. Only something seemed a little weird. When I clicked the link and was informed that I had joined the UF network, there was box towards the bottom of the page telling me that my privacy settings had changed. They’d gone from this:

to this:

Now every single person on the UF network could view virtually everything on my Facebook; things I only wanted my friends to see. Luckily for me I’d noticed this and changed it back but what about all the people who didn’t see that box? My contact info was also changed:

I’ve heard about the controversy over the new Facebook privacy rules, but I haven’t really looked into it. Now I’m really interested. What other applications/parts of Facebook can do this? I know some apps encourage it, like RoomBug, a roommate finder tool:

Up until this point I’ve been really cautious about what I’ve put on Facebook. Now I’m even more paranoid. It’s scary to think about the number of Facebook users that don’t know what other people can see about them. I wonder if any deaths/rapes have been the result of Facebook’s privacy settings. I also wonder if I still have the rights to all my photos…

Update: So random, crazy-psycho dude goes on Facebook, finds out random chick likes animals, takes advantage of this and kills her. I wonder if he discovered what her interests were through Facebook’s lack of privacy…  http://www.elistmania.com/news/man_used_facebook_to_murder_teenage_girl/

Good Morning

Awesome weekend! Enjoyed watching the Olympics by day and laughing at transvestites (Rocky Horror, Eddie Izzard) by night.

I had some spare time today so I added a bit to an idea I had a few days ago and ended up with a rough cut of another song. Oh these last three nights were great =] Enjoy!

Good Morning

Senior Shirts

Back in September or October the senior class at my school and I were asked to design our senior class t-shirts. I was interested in contributing/participating so I made my own design, submitted it, and never heard anything of it again. It was kind of odd because we all made such a big deal out of it for a few weeks and then it just disappeared…at least until today when we received our shirts…with my design on them. No one told me they were going to use what I created and for all I knew we were never even getting the damn shirts, since it had been so long since anyone talked about them. When I got my shirt today I was partly excited that they picked my design, but mostly pissed off because no one told me. If I had known I would have tweaked it a bit more and made damn sure no one’s name was spelt wrong. Too late now…

Google Voice

Finally after waiting a few months I was invited to join Google Voice. I’ve used it for about a day and I like it. I decided to have it replace the voicemail service provided by my carrier (Verizon Wireless) since Google Voice can do for free what Verizon charges extra for. All my voicemail is now displayed visually as opposed to audibly (which meant i had to call my voice mailbox and have my messages read off to me in chronological order, which sucked). It also turns turns voice messages into text so you can read them via SMS or Email. On top of that, you can embed voice messages in web pages:

New Song: Chillout

Had some spare time before I went back to school. Enjoy!

Chillout

Chillout was inspired by the artist Pogo, who’s crazy-awesome at sampling. I really enjoy how relaxing his music sounds, so I tried to create something similar, minus the sampling part (if that even makes sense). Basically his music is catchy and easy to listen to, and I tried to achieve the same thing.

Redesign

Alright so as of right now, I’m halfway done with redesigning my site. I would finish it, but I’m off to go ice skating with some friends. It’ll be done later tonight/early tomorrow morning. Sorry if things look a little…odd.

Update: This is taking a little longer than I expected, mainly because I didn’t really sketch or plan any of it. It’s kindof a I’ll-make-it-when-I-get-to-it type of thing, which isn’t very productive since I don’t have any idea what I’m doing. But Bob Dylan is helping. Lay lady lay…
